CONTRACT STATUS: New York Rangers (NHL)
The New York Rangers drafted Ronning 201st overall (7th round) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. The son of former NHLer Cliff Ronning, Ty put up 84 points in 70 games of his final Junior season with the Vancouver Grizzlies of the WHL in 2017-18. Ronning got his first AHL taste with Hartford the year before aging out of Juniors, and returned afterward. After struggling to put up points with the Wolf Pack, Ronning was assigned to Maine in late November 2018. He burst onto the ECHL scene with a five point game on November 24th, 2018 in a comeback win over Manchester. With three goals and two assists all in the third period, Ronning led a rally from 4-1 down in to a 6-4 win. He was recalled to Hartford in January and spend nearly the remainder of the season in the AHL before a brief three game return to help the Mariners playoff push in April.
