PORTLAND, ME – January 5, 2019 – The Mariners will get a boost to their offense tonight, as the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) assigned forward Drew Melanson to Maine this morning. Melanson had been recalled on December 21st and appeared in three games for the Wolf Pack, with no points.
The rookie forward from Paramus, New Jersey signed with Hartford last March after finishing his collegiate career at Boston University and played in five games, with one assist. With the Hockey East Champion Terriers, Melanson scored six goals with 13 assists in 40 games. He spent the first three years of his college career at RPI.
In 26 games with the Mariners this season, Melanson has five goals and 12 assists, ranking him third on the team in points and assists. He scored his first professional goal on October 21st at home against Newfoundland, in the Mariners’ first franchise victory.
The Mariners and Brampton Beast finish their weekend series with “Throwback Night” at the Cross Insurance Arena tonight at 6:00 PM. The Mariners will wear throwback jerseys and the first 2,000 fans through the gate will receive a throwback logo puck. The game worn throwback jerseys will be auctioned off live after the game.
