PORTLAND, ME – July 25, 2023 – The Maine Mariners announced their lineup of specialty jerseys for the 2023-24 season on Tuesday, containing five one-of-a-kind uniforms for the milestone fifth season. The jersey lineup offers a combination of brand-new concepts and popular returning themes, with one specialty jersey to be worn each month, from October through March.
Kicking off the lineup will be a special “Season Five” jersey, which the Mariners will wear in their Home Opener, presented by Evergreen Credit Union on Saturday, October 21st against the Trois-Rivieres Lions. The jersey will feature the Mariners fifth season logo, which is marked with the roman numeral “V” through the middle of the “M.” The logo will be featured prominently throughout the 2023-24 season, but the jersey will be worn for the Home Opener only.
Up next is the annual “Military Appreciation Night” jersey to be worn on Veteran’s Day – Saturday, November 11th against the Adirondack Thunder. Military Appreciation Night is presented by Martin’s Point Health Care.
January’s specialty jersey is another Mariners first: a “Canadian Tuxedo” which will be worn on Country Night – Friday, January 19th against the Reading Royals. For those unfamiliar, the Canadian Tuxedo is a look that typically consists of a denim jacket and jeans.
February marks the third appearance of the “Maine Wild Blueberries.” The second-place finisher in the team-naming contest back in 2017, the Wild Blueberries were originally honored during the inaugural season’s “What Could Have Been” night in March of 2019. They returned in March of 2022 during the Mariners’ third season, routing the Newfoundland Growlers 9-4. This season’s Wild Blueberries night is Saturday, February 17th against the Norfolk Admirals and is presented by Camden National Bank.
The final specialty jersey of the season brings a brand-new jersey to a returning theme night. Saturday, March 23rd against Newfoundland is the third annual “Racing Night,” and will feature specialty racing-themed jerseys for the first time.
